out in the field

Science should be accessible to everyone. As a trans and queer scientist, I understand many of the barriers to belonging in the life sciences. Along with a team of incredible colleagues, I co-organize the Out in the Field (OiTF) LGBTQIA+ initiative within The Wildlife Society. Together, we work to make the wildlife field and related life sciences disciplines more diverse and inclusive for all. OiTF began in 2019 and has since been expanding: we organize conference events, facilitate social gatherings, fundraise travel support for queer students and early-career professionals, provide resources to increase safety and belonging, and more.
